Is a Jewish rabbi who wishes for physician assisted suicide to remain illegal.
In the Shulan Aruch we are taught that it is not okay to quicken another person's death. With the one exception being that a person may stop anything that is prolonging one's life.
Similar to Catholic teachings, Jewish teachings place extreme value on life.
Block does recognize that treatments such as those that cancer patients undergo can cause great suffering.
However, he recommends people undergo palliative care to lessen one's pain.
To avoid going against Jewish teachings.
