Helps those in need

Death, death is the fate of all who shall know life, but death still instills great fear in the hearts of many.

Rarely does a person want to end their own life.

In the case of terminally ill patients, if you offered them a magical cure all their conditions I think you would quickly run out of stock.

The decision to end one's life, is one that is reached after much thought and consideration for those who decide on it. Those who reach this conclusion may be in great mental or physical pain.

To those who offer hospice or palliative care as alternatives. I agree that if those options work for a patient that they would indeed choose them over physician assisted suicide.

However, there are those who seemingly can get no relief from those options. To deny someone who is living a life of uncertainty and pain is cruel.

To quote the late Stephen Hawkings:

"I think those who have a terminal illness and are in great pain should have the right to choose to end their lives and those that help them should be free from prosecution. We don’t let animals suffer, so why humans?"

It would seem crazy that people can identify the pain of an animal and realize that it would be best for them to die than live in agony. Then that same person deny another person who is voicing their pain and desire for it to end.

If you are so willing to help animals then you should at least be so willing to give another person the opportunity an animal is given so freely.
